[Chris Craft ]
Not just a fancy boat!A combination of academics and real-world skills.
Christopher Craft is a student at the University of South Carolina. He is in the process of completing a Master's degree in Educational Technology and has begun a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Research. You will find him to be a well-balanced mixture of real-world design skills and knowledge of the underlying theories of learning.
How do academics and design mix?
Understanding the basic principles of design are only the beginning. To effectively design anything from a web presence to instruction one must understand not only how to make the product aesthetically pleasing but also functional for learning. I posess a solid background in educational theory as well as the real-world application of said knowledge as evidenced by the examples.
Open source is freedom!
Chris believes whole-heartedly in the community-driven open source model. For years he has been a proponent of open source and free software and the immense cost-savings these items can offer to schools. Avoiding the trap of proprietary licensing can maintain an open, transparent, and potentially crowdsourced environment. When possible, projects are built on open source platforms and/or content-management systems that allow full access and have no hidden advertisements. I am proficient in the installation, customization and full deployment of open source software packages such as Wordpress, Moodle and more.
Quick fact: Chris has been working with the web personally and professionally since 1995!
